Description
Fiberglass Mesh (160g/m²) – 50m²
This robust Fibreglass Mesh is essential for both render and External Wall Insulation (EWI) systems. It is embedded within the cement-based basecoat layer, such as Licata Raso W160 Basecoat or LBS 100 Adhesive Render Coat This embedding process ensures that the final render or solid wall insulation system is both strong enough to withstand impacts and flexible enough to accommodate natural building movements throughout the seasons.
The Fibreglass Mesh can also be used for additional reinforcement in specific areas. For instance, stress patches measuring 300mm x 200mm can be cut from the roll and placed at a 45-degree angle to each corner of an opening. These areas, especially in traditional sand and cement applications, are prone to cracking. Adding a stress patch helps keep the system crack-free over time.
When using Fibreglass Mesh, make sure each strip overlaps the previous one during embedding in the basecoat adhesive or premium adhesive. A black marker on the mesh indicates the required overlap. For areas needing extra reinforcement, you can apply a double layer of mesh. First, embed vertical strips of mesh, then apply a second layer at a 90-degree angle to the first. This may require a slightly thicker basecoat layer, about 8mm instead of the usual 6mm, to accommodate both layers.
While the primary use of Fibreglass Mesh is within the basecoat layer of render or EWI systems, it can also be used to bridge cracks both internally and externally, and to provide additional strength to floor screeds and plastered ceilings.
The mesh is coated with acrylic acid copolymer liquid, making it resistant to water, alkali, and aging.
